Meysa Maleki

Founding Partner

Meysa is the founder of Maleki Barristers. She has extensive experience in all aspects of separation and high conflict divorce, including complex financial matters and custody litigation.

Meysa has extensive arbitration, trial and appellate experience. She has been co-counsel in several notable decisions before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, including Choquette v. Choquette and AA. v. BB. v. CC.  

Meysa was recently asked by the Law Times for her commentary on the Court of Appeal decision of Bakhshi v. Hosseizadeh about the treatment of Mahers in the division of assets.

Meysa has been awarded the designation of accredited family mediator (Acc.FM) by the Ontario Association for Family Mediation. Her mediation training has included Harvard Law School’s Negotiation and Leadership Program. She has completed a family mediation internship at the Toronto Superior Court of Justice, and with Dr. Barbara Fidler.

In the political arena, Meysa served as Senior Policy Advisor to the Honourable Deb Matthews, first when she was the Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues and later, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. During her tenure, Meysa engaged with multi-lateral interests in a variety of high-profile files.

Meysa is the author of the book, the Conflict Resolution Grail. She has been a guest speaker on numerous radio shows across the US and Canada, including the award-winning Happy Hour Show with Jonna & Keryl in New York, the Ted Woloshyn Show, Toronto’s iheartradio, Newstalk 1010, and the award winning show Max & Friends on L.A. Talk Radio. She is also a regular contributor to Thrive Global.

She is a past speaker at the Family Law Summit, the Six Minute Family Law Lawyer, the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Osgoode Hall Professional Development Program.

Meysa is a past board member of the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic and a volunteer mediator at St. Stephen’s Community House. She presently volunteers her time on the finance committee of the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts and as a Governor on the board of the North York General Hospital Foundation. 

Meysa lives in North Toronto with her husband and two children.
